The Role of Colored Character Cards in Improving Sentence Construction Skills among Deaf Students

This classroom action research aims to describe the implementation of colored character cards and analyze the improvement of S-P-O-K sentence construction skills among eleventh-grade deaf students at SLB Negeri Tamanwinangun. The research subjects consisted of 12 deaf students. This two-cycle classroom action research followed the Kemmis and McTaggart model, comprising planning, action implementation, observation, and reflection phases. Data were collected through performance tests, written tests, observations, interviews, and documentation. Data were analyzed using descriptive comparative and critical analysis methods. The results showed that the use of colored character cards significantly enhanced students' sentence construction skills, with learning mastery increasing from 25% in the pre-cycle to 66.6% in Cycle I, and reaching 91.6% in Cycle II, with the overall average score passing the minimum mastery criterion (KKM) of 75. This visual medium effectively strengthens students' visual memory in comprehending grammatical patterns.
