ANALISIS KESULITAN PEMECAHAN MASALAH PADA MATERI ALJABAR DAN GEOMETRI SISWA SMP DI KECAMATAN NANGA PINOH

Abstract: The aim of this research is to describe the percentage of class
VIII students of SMN at Nanga Pinoh who get difficulties in terms of the
type of difficulty based on solving problem steps on
two mathematical material namely algebra and geometry as well as for
each of such material. This research is research with survey method with
the quantitative approach. The research subject were students of
class VIII in 2 (two) SMPN at Nanga Pinoh
namely SMP Negeri 1 Nanga Pinoh and SMP Negeri 2 Nanga Pinoh,
later taken samples based on categories of high, medium and low. The
instruments used in this research is a test diagnotik math problem
solving difficulties. The research results suggests that: 1) On algebra
and geomteri the percentage of students who have reading difficulty is
61.8%, comprehension difficulty 65.8%, transformation difficulty 92,1%,
process skill difficulty 92,1%, and encoding difficulty 92,1%; 2) On the
material percentage algebra students who have difficulty reading 85,5%,
comprehension difficulty 89,5%, transformation difficulty 93.4%, process
skill difficulty 94,7%, and encoding difficulty 94,7%; and 3) On the
geometry of the percentage of students who have difficulty reading
73.7%, comprehension difficulty 77,6%, transformation
difficulty 82.9%, process skill difficulty 88.1%, and encoding
difficulty 88.1%.

Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan persentase siswa kelas
VIII SMP Negeri di Kecamatan Nanga Pinoh yang mengalami kesulitan ditinjau
dari jenis kesulitan berdasarkan langkah pemecahan masalah pada dua materi
matematika yakni aljabar dan geometri serta untuk masing-masing materi
tersebut. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian dengan metode survei dengan
pendekatan kuantitatif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII di 2
(dua) SMP Negeri yang ada di Kecamatan Nanga Pinoh yakni SMP Negeri 1
Nanga Pinoh dan SMP Negeri 2 Nanga Pinoh, yang kemudian diambil sampel
berdasarkan kategori tinggi, sedang dan rendah. Instrumen yang digunakan
dalam penelitian ini adalah tes diagnotik kesulitan pemecahan masalah
matematika. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: 1) Pada materi aljabar dan
geomteri persentase siswa yang mengalami kesulitan membaca 61,8%, kesulitan
pemahaman 65,8%, kesulitan transformasi 92,1%, kesulitan keterampilan
proses 92,1%, dan kesulitan penarikan kesimpulan 92,1%; 2) Pada materi aljabar persentase siswa yang kesulitan membaca 85,5%, kesulitan
pemahaman 89,5%, kesulitan transformasi 93,4%, kesulitan keterampilan
proses 94,7%, dan kesulitan penarikan kesimpulan 94,7%; dan 3) Pada materi
geometri persentase siswa yang kesulitan membaca 73,7%, kesulitan
pemahaman 77,6%, kesulitan transformasi 82,9%, kesulitan keterampilan
proses 88,1%, dan kesulitan penarikan kesimpulan 88,1%.
